A long-time North Carolina law firm will move its Wilmington practice downtown.

Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard will occupy 3,450-square-feet of office space on the third floor of the BB&T building at 115 N. Third St., Suite 301.

Vin Wells, a partner and broker with Wilmington-based Cape Fear Commercial, represented the tenant during the long-term lease transaction on Monday for an undisclosed amount. Don Harley, broker-in-charge of Wilmington-based Harley & Associates, represented the landlord.

The law firm currently occupies multiple offices in the Landfall Executive Suites Center, 1213 Culbreth Drive.

The Wilmington division of the Becker Morgan Group will design the office space for the firm.

Officials plan to relocate downtown by August, according to a news release.

“We are pleased to have secured, with Vin’s help, Class A office space in historic downtown Wilmington” Ed Winslow, managing partner for the firm who is based in Greensboro, said in a news release. “We are working to design office space that reflects our firm’s character and commitment to the greater Wilmington community.”

Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard was first founded in 1897 and operates three offices in the state – its headquarters in Greensboro, Wilmington and Raleigh. The business law firm provides strategic counsel and solutions to its clients, with expertise in all divisions of business law, the release stated.
