A locally based financial services firm has relocated one of its branches to the Smith Creek Station Shopping Center, according to its branch manager.

Brian Stallings said Tuesday that his branch of Springleaf Financial Services recently moved its operation to 2,134 square feet of retail space at the Kohl’s-anchored power center at 132 Racine Drive.

Springleaf Financial Services was originally located in the University Common Shopping Center, 341 S. College Road.

Stallings said he and five other employees moved into their new office space on Nov. 27.
“We were looking for more space,” he said. “The space we have now has windows and is larger, plus we really like the location. We wanted to stay in the same vicinity.”

The Wilmington division of the Becker Morgan Group completed the architectural and engineering designs for the new office space, while Wilmington-based Gaines & Associates Builders Inc. completed the construction upfit.

Cody Cress and Tyler Pegg, co-founders and brokers of the Wilmington-based CRESS Group of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners, represented Springleaf Financial during the long-term lease transaction for an undisclosed amount.

Hank Miller, senior vice president and broker with Wilmington-based Cape Fear Commercial, represented the landlord during the transaction.

Indiana-based Springleaf Financial Services specializes in personal loans for bill consolidation, home improvements, vacations, college tuition expenses and major purchases and emergencies, according to the company.

The financial firm operates offices in Shallotte, Wilmington and the Monkey Junction area of New Hanover County.
