WILMINGTON, NC – August 2025 — Cape Fear Development is pleased to announce that construction is officially underway on Proximity Government Center, the latest development in the firm’s growing Proximity portfolio.
Located adjacent to the newly completed New Hanover County Government Center, this mixed-use community marks the final phase of a multi-year redevelopment initiative led through a public-private partnership (P3) between the County and Cape Fear Development.
Proximity Government Center will deliver 250+ luxury apartment homes across four stories, featuring a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans. The community will also include a dedicated on-site restaurant space and walkable public green space, mimicking a resident experience similar to CFD’s Renaissance development off Military Cutoff Road – home to the celebrated on-site restaurant, Perla, by Ash Aziz. Residents will enjoy elevated amenities consistent with other Proximity communities, including a resident club room, fitness center, and outdoor gathering areas.

Live Oak Bank is serving as the lender, with LS3P as the lead architect and Cape Fear Construction Group—the construction arm of Cape Fear Commercial—acting as the General Contractor.
