Cape Fear Development is proud to announce that Proximity Carolina Beach, developed by Cape Fear Development, has been named a winner of the 2026 Cape Fear CREW Awards of Excellence in the Project Excellence – Multifamily, Mixed-Use, and Retail category.
Hosted annually by Cape Fear CREW – Commercial Real Estate Women, the Awards of Excellence recognize projects that elevate the built environment and demonstrate thoughtful, community-driven development across the Cape Fear region.
The Project Excellence – Multifamily, Mixed-Use, and Retail category recognizes developments that demonstrate a high standard of design, functionality, and market impact, while also emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and meaningful community integration. Projects are evaluated on how effectively they respond to their surroundings and contribute to the long-term vitality of the communities they serve.
Proximity Carolina Beach is a premier multifamily and mixed-use development in Carolina Beach, NC, bringing together residential living, over 35,000 square feet of retail, and activated public space in one of the region’s most dynamic coastal communities.
But, what really makes this project especially meaningful is how it came together. Early in the process, the development team hosted more than 30 community meetings with residents, business owners, and Town leadership to better understand what mattered most to Carolina Beach. That input directly shaped the project, from preserving green space and integrating live oaks to curating a locally driven retail experience and designing spaces for connection.
The result is a walkable, community-oriented destination that reflects the character of Carolina Beach while introducing a new level of quality and year-round activity to the area.
